MOULTRIE — The group making the final decision on a list of transportation projects for the region will seek public input during three meetings this month.
The 28-member Southwest Georgia Regional Transportation Roundtable, made up of a mayor and county commissioner from each county, will present its list of transportation projects by Oct. 15.
The list presented to the Georgia Department of Transportation will be part of a tax referendum that voters will decide next year. If approved by a majority of voters in the 14 counties, it would add an extra 1-cent (one percent) sales tax to purchases that would go toward transportation projects in the region.
The tax is projected to raise an estimated $453 million over 10 years.
