Cobb Lawmakers Seek TSPLOST Feedback

MDJ reports that Cobb Lawmakers are seeking feedback on the propose transportation SPLOST referendum that would add a one percent sales tax to a 10 county metro-Atlanta region. The vote is planned for July 2012.

Tippins and state Rep. Earl Ehrhart (R-Powder Springs) will host a town hall meeting tentatively scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8 in the theater of Harrison High School, located at 4500 Due West Road in Kennesaw.

And State Sen. Judson Hill (R-east Cobb) said he would soon announce a town hall meeting, likely to be in early September.

Tippins said everyone is invited to attend.

Cobb Board of Commissioners Chairman Tim Lee received an earful of criticism from Cobb lawmakers on Monday regarding the proposed light rail line from Midtown MARTA Arts Center Station to Cumberland Mall, which constitutes the majority of Cobb’s take in the TSPLOST. The $856.5 million, 12.8-mile rail line project would have about one mile of track inside Cobb.
